"Zig Zag" assembles ideas and examples of drawings from Turkey and abroad.
Exhibited are works by Adriana Farmiga, Akiko Kotani, Alina Viola Grumiller, April Gertler, Bjorn Hegardt, Bora Başkan, Ceren Oykut, Cins, Erdem Ergaz, Gözde İlkin, Gözen Atila, Güçlü Öztekin, Güneş Terkol, İnci Furni, John Jurayj, Koray Kantarcıoğlu, Linas Jablonskis, Mehmet Uluşahin, Nazlı Eda Noyan, Necla Rüzgar, Rachel Bacon and Tina Schneider. Using: pen, pencil, digital lines, ink, watercolors, thread, chalk, tape, video and photography. Drawings may be in the form of a quick sketch, or be meticulous and intricate; others revisit examples from history. Some works project dreams and hallucinations; others harbor a pensiveness: seeing, touching, and moving coalesce.

Here are: Reinterpretations of daily life, fine pencil drawings obsessing over fast-food culture, delicate watercolors sculpturally layering everyday objects on paper. A signature and a graffiti tag, a mural out of chalk. A drawing book, architectural sketches, cartoons, a tactile embrace, embroideries and light, video collages manifesting public and private space, sound, digital compositions, photocopies and pixels.

Some pieces have a delicate hand at work, some an aggressive application.
The hand ventures forth, making contact, apprehending, the instrument creating and connecting the body leaving the trace of a memory.

Whatever the application, content or medium, drawing holds our grip, connecting various streams of thought, seeing and representing, tracing this connection and the continuation of what drawing is and can be.

"Zig Zag" is organised by, Inci Furni, Alina Viola Grumiller, and Koray Kantarcıoğlu.
This show is an adaptation of and connection to the "Independent Drawing Gig4" which combines music performance and drawing under the same roof.
"Independent Drawing Gig 4" is being independently organized in New York, San Francisco, Seul, Hague, Maastricht, Skopje and Vilnius all of which are simultaneously hosting an opening this October.
